Story: What are your experiences teaching & learning in the time of coronavirus?

The Covid-19 pandemic has caused many changes in my life that are slowly being reverted. Firstly I had to transition to online school, this actually wasn't as bad for me as it was for others as I often have a hard time learning through lectures anyways and being able to work on things myself has helped me grasp things a bit better in some areas. That is not to say it has not been without its difficulties. I have missed assignments because of everything from my computer not working to power and internet outages. We also had to ration some things like toilet paper during the pandemic because there were mass shortages due to panic buying. I hadn't seen my grandparents until very recently because my grandfather has an immune disorder that causes him to essentially have permanent pneumonia and if he got Covid-19 it would almost certainly be a death sentence.

I in particular have tried to be as careful as possible. I make sure to wear my mask whenever I have to go out because my mother has rheumatoid arthritis and other immune issues that could prove life threatening if exposed. On top of that I have a three year old brother who I was worried about exposing to covid. Most of my friends were in a similar circumstance and so for almost an entire year my friends, my girlfriend, and myself all had no face to face interaction. This culminated in one of my most memorable experiences after rates were down and we had been self isolating to the point of feeling comfortable meeting up, We all sat around the table and just started crying because we were finally able to see each other again without a screen in the way. Overall this pandemic has shed light on issues with our society and has made life worse for many and I am signing up the second I can for a vaccination to try and make things normal again
